The Women's Ministry at St. Matthew's Church is multifacited. Our driving ethos is to build up one another in our faith and to serve the Lord by supporting other ministries in our parish with our time, talents and treasure.

ALTAR GUILD

The mission of the Altar Guild is to assist the Clergy. The members work directly under the orders and authority of the Priest in strict accordance with his instructions. In general terms, the duty of the Altar Guild is to have ready those things necessary for the celebration of the Eucharist and the observances of the other Sacraments and Offices of the Church. Altar Guild Members should be mindful of the privilege of serving God in His Sanctuary.

If you are interested in serving in this unique and special ministry please contact Donna Spell (949) 219-0911.

ST. MATT'S MOMS

As a support to the many moms in our church and school we have special group for moms. It is a weekly time for us to get together. We have a short Bible study and share one another’s parenting struggles and joys. In a world where many of us live far from our families, it is important to have others that can walk along side us as we raise our children. Come be a part of something genuine.

The group meets from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on Wednesdays. Childcare is provided for infants and toddlers. If you are interested in joining us contact Lisa Marion at lisa@stmatthewsnewport.com or (949) 219-0911.

WOMEN'S GROUP

The St. Matthew's Women's Group fosters Christian friendships through weekly meetings which include Evening Prayer, dinner, and reading books and essays from prominent Christian writers. Women of all ages are encouraged to attend as the group views one of its core strengths to be the wide spectrum of the ages of its members, enabling all to benefit from each other's perspectives and life experiences. Please join us in the library Thursday evenings at 6:30 p.m.

Contact Ashley Becher (714-697-7608, ashleybecher@gmail.com) or Karen Schmidt (714-746-2107, karen@karenschmidtsculpture.com) if you would like to know more about the group.

WOMEN'S GUILD

The purpose of the Women’s Guild is: to lend support to established ministries in the parish; to visit the sick and homebound; to provide meals and other necessities for the parishioners in need; and to organize special events and fund-raising activities.

For example, the women of the Guild have established a “prayer tree” that provides an opportunity for intercessory prayers for our congregation. If you have a prayer request please contact us. Additionally, the Guild hosts two fundraisers throughout the year. First, we host a bake sale at which anyone can bring homemade goods. Second, once a year, we host the Annual Spring Tea at which members and their guests enjoy an afternoon of sweets and savouries in the traditional English manner. All proceeds from these fundraisers go to the St. Matthew’s Orphanage in Mexico. The Guild also gives ten percent of its annual income to St. Matthew’s Church.

The Women’s Guild meets on the first Saturday of each month at 10:00 am in our parish hall, and welcomes all women to attend. Please contact Angel Michael at anjell@cox.net, or (949) 786-8720, if you would like to participate.

BOOK CLUB

The book club at St. Matthew's meets the third Saturday of each month to discuss different books. A list of readings through May 2009 maybe found by clicking here. Although attending mostly by women everyone is invited to join the lively disucssion as we work to broaden and sharpen our Christian World view.
